About
I am an English Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Nagoya City University. I completed my BA in Spanish and Linguistics from UCLA and MSc in TESOL and MBA from Anaheim University.
I am the founder and director of an HIV/AIDS education organization, Japan AIDS Prevention Awareness Network, and have many years of experience teaching HIV/AIDS in the English language classroom in Japan.
My recent research interests include:
• teaching controversial issues in the language classroom
• discourse analysis (lyric analysis) of protest music of the 1960s and the early years of the war in Iraq
• genealogical research of my family's roots and solving the many mysteries that entails
• using NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) techniques in the classroom and in counseling
• teaching media literacy skills in EFL (currently co-authoring a Media Literacy textbook)
